Erskineville History The idea to form Erskineville Toastmasters Club came from Amy Darragh. Amy felt that the Erskineville and Alexandria areas had a strong need for a Toastmaster Club. Amy felt that if a demonstration meeting was to be held the club would form shortly after. Amy enlisted the help of Richard Hu, Steve Howard and Bernie Fisher to form the foundations of Erskineville Toastmasters. The application to charter was sent into Toastmasters International and the planning to form a new club began. Liama McConachie volunteered to help the club for by creating a web site. Amy put her creative juices to work and created a flyer and spent her weekends letter dropping it all over the Erskineville and Alexandria area. The next stage in the club history was to hold the first meeting for Erskineville Toastmasters. The first meeting was a demonstration of what a Toastmasters club has to offer its potential members. The demonstration meeting was held on Monday 21st August 2006, at 7pm in the Joseph Sergeant Community Centre, 60 Prospect St, Erskineville. |
